Effective altruism
Slovakia’s local group of an international community doing good, carefully
What is effective altruism?
Effective altruism asks a simple question: if we want to help others, how can we do the most good with the time and money we have? It is both a field of research and a community of people trying to put the answers into practice.
Some ways of helping are many times more effective than others. Taking that seriously leads people to support highly effective charities, to choose careers aimed at pressing problems such as global health, animal welfare and risks from emerging technologies, and to keep updating as the evidence changes.
We are the Slovak group of this community: students, professionals and entrepreneurs who meet, discuss ideas and help each other find ways to make a difference. Most of our activities are in Slovak, but English speakers living in or around Slovakia are very welcome.
